Abaca is an extremely strong fiber, very expensive and has a price many times higher than wood pulp. The name refers to the capital of the Philippines, one of the main producers of Manila hemp. Growing abaca plants can reduce erosion, increase biodiversity and enrich the soil. Finally, it is resistant to water and humidity.
