In a nutshell…: Quilting is a type of fabric or a sewing technique where the seams and stitches form various patterns and folds or bulges. In quilting, the fabric is like a “bubble” that is held together by the seams which “dip” the fabric at the points where they are located. That is, in quilting, many small puffy bulges are created that are separated from each other by the seams. These bulges can be diamonds, squares, stripes, as well as many other patterns. The purpose of this style is to break the monotony by creating various patterns in the fabric. This improves the overall image of the object. MAINTENANCE:
To keep velvet clean and fluffy, it is a good idea to vacuum it once a week. Attach a soft brush, set your vacuum to the gentle setting, and sweep the entire surface in the direction of the grain. You will see that the dust will immediately be removed and the pile of the fabric will be as good as new.
Under no circumstances should you rub a velvet fabric. Even if you need to remove a stain, do not rub it. Dampen a soft cloth with water and dab it locally on the stain.
Leather (i.e. the cloths we use to dry the car) is also an ideal choice for cleaning velvet.
