Suar wood is the wood of the Albizia Saman tree, sometimes called the rain tree. It is a beautiful, well-formed wood, with abundant intersecting "grains". The "heart" of the wood is close to the color of walnut, while the rest of the body of the wood is lighter. Each piece of Suar wood, like each snowflake, is unique. The formation of the "grains" of the wood can vary greatly, making one piece seem more desirable to a particular customer than another. Properly dried, Suar wood is very strong and durable.
